Crystal Skulls Rising
The Crystal Skulls Rising oracle card deck is my largest illustration project to date. Over the course of two years, I worked closely with Big Heart Rising to bring our specific vision to life. I applied several years of knowledge from my spiritual practice to the visual story of this deck. These cards offer a window for self-reflection, on one hand; and on the other, an extensive guide to the metaphysical properties of 44 different crystals.
I conceptualized and executed each individual composition, including the card backs. I also structured the intentional order of the cards themselves.

ARTIST STATEMENT
The focus of my work is the female experience, which I explore mainly through spirituality and subversion. The female form is almost always the subject of my work, and when it’s not, the subject is being observed by a female viewer. My womanhood is central to my understanding of the world, both from the lens of my body, and the lens of shared experiences under systemic oppression. The truth of the female experience is vast, spiritual, and often in opposition to what it is expected to be. I aim to express the depth and power of that truth.
While I work in multiple mediums, including digital, my current focus is large-scale painting. After working as an illustrator, especially in this post-AI moment, I have found myself treasuring the physical act of art making. The seeds of this were planted years ago: I dropped out of art school largely due to a growing boredom with my digital art practice. I pursued alternative careers in the spiritual industry, including study at the American Federation of Astrologers. This time also included a dedicated yoga practice. Although my digital experience has served me well, I have made a home in my body, and physical art-making allows me to bridge the two. Large scale works demand a physical experience; the larger the work, the more demanding the physical creation. I believe the intensity of that creation is felt when in the presence of large art. Intensity of feeling is crucial to my work.
My life experiences pushed me to embrace feminist principles at an early age, and my spiritual journey deepened those principles, solidifying them as part of my identity. I often use the archetype of the witch to describe my role in the world: a symbol of female power achieved through rebellion, spirituality, and creativity. Art, to me, is as much a metaphysical experience as it is a visual and physical one. I’ve had the profound fortune of being raised to value my sovereignty in a way that directly opposes the expectations of patriarchy. It simply has never occurred to me to consider myself a lesser being. I find Earth confusing in this way, as I imagine a Goddess would. If nothing else, I hope to ignite the spark of this feeling in every woman who sees my work.
